Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Chaudhary decided he wanted to be a doctor in high school. The world of internal medicine interested him, so he chose that as his specialty during medical school.

“The most rewarding experience I’ve had as a doctor was when I treated a young mother with chronic back and hip pain for many years,” he said. “She was struggling so much and tearful at the appointment. We figured out the diagnosis (ankylosing spondylitis), and I have been treating her for many years. Her quality of life has substantially improved, and we have a great relationship now.”

Dr. Chaudhary is an avid follower of Jainism. Jainism is based on the principle of non-violence (ahimsa, literally means “non-injuring”), therefore, he participates in monthly meetings with Triangle Jains. He is also fluent in Hindi and is a vegetarian.

His hobbies include gardening, hiking, traveling, table tennis, puzzles, cooking and baking—although he confesses that his wife is a better cook. He lives in Cary with his wife, Nidhi, and their son, Veer.

If life hadn’t taken him into the journey of medicine, what career would he have chosen?

“I would have chosen a career in IT (Information Technology). I have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and even worked as a software engineer during the summer before medical school,” he said. “I enjoy technology, and as a tech enthusiast, I am eager to use the latest gadgets and technology.”
