Every day is rewarding when a patient tells me that I have helped/encouraged him or her to make a difference.
I am a native North Carolinian. I think almost everyone thinks that it is interesting that I moved here from NY when I was 6, went to all of the local schools, graduated from Sanderson High School, and then decided to go to an accelerated medical program in India right out of high school.
I received my medical training from Sri Ramachandra Medical College, a Harvard affiliate. While there, I earned a gold medal in internal medicine.
After completing a three-month externship at Duke University Medical Center, I pursued a primary care internal medicine residency at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro and then did a teaching year at St Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco. I am happy to be back in North Carolina. I joined Cary Medical Group in 2005.
Every year I also help organize and participate in a health fair for those that do not have medical insurance.
I live in Cary with my husband and twin boys. As a family, we try to volunteer at the food bank and assist in park cleanups. Speaking of parks, I’d have to say that one of our favorite places is Pullen Park. My kids have fun and I enjoy watching them have a blast.
If I had not chosen a career in medicine, I believe I would have become a professor; I love to teach and learn more each day. I have medical students who come work with me now, and that is another part of my practice that I love.
